ALABAMA OFFICER STRUCK BY CAR DURING PURSUIT

A Hoover police officer is in a local hospital after being hit outside his patrol car by a suspect involved a police chase. According to Hoover Police, Officer Mike Lucas has been taken to Brookwood Hospital for treatment.

The chase ended at the scene of the crash near the Galleria on the I-459 on ramp at Highway 31 in Hoover. The Hoover Officer was attempting to put out spike strips to slow down the suspect when he was hit in the leg.

His injuries are not life threatening. The chase started shortly after 11:30pm in Birmingham. The suspect apparently was involved with drugs when the chase started.
