TEXAS OFFICER HIT BY VEHICLE, DRIVER FACES PRISON TIME
A man faces up to 20-years in prison and a 250-thousand-dollar fine for assaulting a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer last May. A federal jury in El Paso convicted Luis Miguel Macias yesterday afternoon for striking a federal officer on a motorcycle with his vehicle.
The officer suffered scrapes, bruises and a deep laceration to his leg that required stitches. Authorities say Macias struck the officer in response to officers searching his vehicle for contraband 30-minutes prior when he tried to enter the U.S. Macias is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
