OHIO POLICE OFFICER STRUCK BY CAR SUFFERS BROKEN COLLARBONE
A car driven by an intoxicated woman hit a Columbus police officer early this morning and broke his collarbone. Officer Berry Hall, 23, had stepped out of his patrol car at about 2:20 a.m. to break up a fight on Windsor Avenue near Joyce Avenue, on the North Side.
Erlesa D. McCoy, 36, driving a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker, struck Hall. She later was found to have a blood-alcohol level of .14. A person is considered to be driving drunk in Ohio at a level of .08. McCoy, of 1203 Duxberry Ave., was arrested on a aggravated vehicular assault charge.McCoy has two prior convictions of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and was driving under a suspended license when she struck Hall.
