KENTUCKY DEPUTY OK AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR

A Rowan County sheriff's deputy is recovering after a driver hit his squad car, which then hit him as he was picking up debris in the road Thursday afternoon. Deputy Larry Joe Stevens had his emergency lights on while he was pulled off to the side, but apparently an elderly woman didn't see him. The woman hit the back of Steven's cruiser causing it to hit him. The impact sent Stevens onto the hood of his car. He was taken to Saint Clair Hospital where his colleagues at Morehead police were thankful to learn he was going to be okay.

"He was walking and talking," said Morehead police detective David Sexton. "He was sore, of course, but he's very fortunate he wasn't hurt worse."

Police don't expect to file any charges against the driver who hit him.
