MINNEAPOLIS POLICE OFFICER HIT BY SQUAD CAR DURING CHASE
A Minneapolis park police officer is recovering in a hospital after being hit by a squad car during a chase. It happened today after several officers from the park police and Minneapolis police departments responded to a report of shots fired in north Minneapolis.
Authorities say a suspect got out of his vehicle and the park police officer chased him on foot. Police Chief Tim Dolan says the officer went into an alley and was hit by a Minneapolis police squad car, which was also involved in the pursuit.
The officer was taken to North Memorial Medical Center. Police spokesman Jesse Garcia says the officer's family has declined to release a name or condition, but that police consider it a serious incident. Two suspects are in custody and police are looking for others.
