INDIANA POLICE OFFICER STRUCK BY DRUNK DRIVER
A St. Joseph County officer is recovering at home after being hit by a drunk driver Wednesday night. Around 10:30, officers responded to a two car accident near the intersection of Lincolnway east and Chestnut in Osceola.
One person was injured and it was likely caused by a drunk driver.
Officers blocked traffic to work on the scene.
That is when, police say, 50 year old Edgar Wolfe Jr., crashed his pick-up truck into a patrol car that had an officer inside. Officials say the officer, whose name has not been released, is out of the hospital with lacerations to his face, a broken nose and a concussion.
Wolfe was treated for minor injuries. He has been arrested on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated, causing serious bodily injury.
A preliminary blood test shows Wolfe's blood alcohol level was 0.25 which is more than three times the legal limit. Police are still investigating the accident.
