FORMER COVENTRY POLICE OFFICER REGAINS CONSCIOUSNESS
A FORMER Coventry police officer who was hit by a car while she tried to arrest a fraud suspect has regained consciousness. Detective constable Catherine Corbett, right, who used to be based at Little Park Street police station and now works for the Economic Crime Team, in Birmingham, was hit by a car in Surrey last Friday.
The 39-year-old, of Solihull, has now regained consciousness and was able to squeeze her family's hands. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "She is no longer considered to be critical although she will be very poorly for some time to come." Rashpal Singh, 41, has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
