ALABAMA TROOPER IN FAIR CONDITION AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR
An Alabama state trooper was airlifted to UAB Hospital after he was injured when a pickup truck struck his patrol vehicle on Interstate 59 around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Trooper spokesman David Richards said the trooper was performing a traffic stop when the southbound pickup hit the patrol vehicle, pinning Trooper Cleophus Robinson between the two vehicles.
Richards described Robinson's injury as non-life-threatening. He said Robinson has been a trooper for about 18 months. Richards said the driver of the pickup was treated at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. The cause of the crash in Tuscaloosa County remains under investigation, Richards said.
