ALABAMA TROOPER IN FAIR CONDITION
An Alabama state trooper was airlifted to UAB Hospital Saturday morning after being struck by a pickup truck. It happened around 6:30 a.m. on Interstate-20/59, just west of McCalla. Authorities said Trooper Cleophus Robinson was performing a traffic stop, when a speeding car veered off the road, went over the median, and hit the officer. The trooper was pinned between the two cars.
A trooper spokesman said Robinson suffered a leg fracture and is listed in fair condition at UAB Hospital. No word on whether charges will be filed against the driver.
