SPEEDING CAR INJURES PENNSYLVANIA TROOPER
A state trooper suffered an arm injury after being struck by a speeding motorist, authorities said Sunday. Troopers Martin Gonglik and Jeffrey Ogrodowski were standing along Lacock Street in Canton on Saturday when a vehicle driven by Adam Daniel Abbas, 19, of Washington approached at high speed, striking Gonglik in the upper right arm and nearly hitting the police cruiser, state police said.
After a chase, police arrested Abbas, who they said had been drinking and smoking marijuana. Gonglik suffered a bruised arm. Abbas was charged with driving under the influence, aggravated assault, fleeing and attempting to elude police and several traffic violations. He was placed in the Washington County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
