MARYLAND OFFICER STRUCK BY VEHICLE

An officer who was directing traffic was struck by a motorist Friday morning, police said. The incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of Route 198 near Route 197 in Laurel. The officer was transported to a local hospital. There has been no word on his condition. Police said the woman who struck the officer remained on the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
