IDAHO OFFICER TRANSPORTING DRUNK DRIVER IS STRUCK BY DRUNK DRIVER
A drunk driver smashed into an Ada County Sheriffs patrol car Friday night – while the deputy inside was transporting another drunk driver to jail. Just after 10:30 p.m. deputy Steven Craig was on his way to the Ada County Jail, when a Chevy pickup rammed into his patrol car on Meridian Road.
The Sheriff’s Office says the driver ignored a red arrow and tried to turn left onto Victory Road. Police arrested Benjamin Earl Hanson, 44 of Boise for driving under the influence of alcohol. Deputies say his blood alcohol level was .20, well over the legal limit of .08.
Craig was treated for minor injuries at St. Luke’s Meridian Medical Center; his passenger was not injured and finished the trip to the Ada County Jail.
