MILWAUKEE OFFICER STRUCK BY CAR
Milwaukee police say an officer was hit by a vehicle yesterday when she was trying to take a student into custody. Authorities say the incident happened at Metropolitan High School.
Police say the officer was taken to a hospital with an injury to her hand. And the 15-year-old boy she was trying to take into custody was caught after a short chase. Lieutenant Alfonso Morales says authorities were called when the student was ordered to leave the school but returned with a weapon.
He wouldn't say what the weapon was but that it was not a firearm.
Morale says the student was then involved in a physical altercation, just before dismissal at a nearby elementary school. Milwaukee Public Schools say that school - Roosevelt Middle School - was placed on lockdown during the incident.
