MAN ARRESTED FOR HITTING KANSAS DEPUTY WITH CAR
A Sheriff's Deputy was struck by a car in Jackson County early Saturday morning September 15. Deputy Darrell Chapman and Deputy Tommy Drewell stopped a speeding vehicle around 2:30 am. A confrontation occurred and as the driver fled, his car struck Deputy Chapman.
Other Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies chased the car until it wrecked behind a home south of Mayetta. Thirty-five year old Mark Chapman of Topeka and thirty-five year old David Davidson of Topeka were arrested on charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of, and conspiracy to possess, anhydrous ammonia and felony obstruction.
Deputy Chapman is doing well and returned to work Saturday night.
