CALIFORNIA OFFICER INJURED
A Carlsbad police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon as she was responding to an accident on Carlsbad Village Drive near Interstate 5, police said. The accident, in which a bicyclist collided with a car, happened about 2:55 p.m., Sgt. Keith Blackburn said. When the officer arrived a few minutes later and began exiting her patrol car, the door of the car struck her in the head, Blackburn said.
The officer was in some pain and was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where she was examined for signs of a concussion, said Blackburn. The officer's injuries appeared to be minor, he said. No serious injuries were reported to anyone involved in the accident between the bicyclist and the car, said Blackburn.
