ONE CAUGHT, TWO ESCAPE AFTER HITTING FLORIDA DEPUTY WITH CAR
Seminole County deputies were hunting for two armed robbery suspects who then tried to run down a deputy late Thursday night. Orlando police officers were involved in a search that forced the closure of I-4 and backed up traffic for miles late Thursday night. The officers were helping the Seminole County Sheriff's Office look for three robbery suspects accused of charging a female deputy and striking her with a car.
It started with the deputy checking out a suspicious car in the parking lot of the Regency Motel on US-17/92 in Fern Park. Investigators said the white vehicle matched the description of a car used in an armed robbery at an auto parts store earlier in the night.
According to the sheriff's office, the driver of the car drove right into the deputy as she jumped out of the way. The deputy was not hurt.
A woman was arrested on I-4 near the Fairbanks entrance soon after. Friday morning, detectives said they would follow up on information that might lead them to the two suspects who got away.
Investigators said that, with one suspect in custody, it could be only a matter of time before deputies arrest the other two.
