NEW ORLEANS OFFICER HIT BY BUS ON FILM SET
A police officer apparently working with a film crew near Café du Monde in the French Quarter was hit by a passing transit bus Monday night, the Regional Transit Authority said. Officer Thaddeus Petit, who was taken to a hospital, was believed to be all right.
He was believed to be working with a crew filming an episode of "K-Ville," a television show. Officials thought Petit was probably walking toward the moving bus to let the driver know she should stop and walked into the path of the mirror on the driver's side, Cook said. The mirror hit Petit on the head.
The accident occurred in the 800 block of Decatur Street shortly after the eastbound Elysian Fields bus crossed St. Ann Street. The driver, Barbara Word, stopped the bus a few yards past the point of impact. Four of five passengers claimed injuries, but none was taken to a hospital. No tickets were issued, but the city attorney's office will be consulted.
