DRUNK DRIVER STRIKES NEW HAMPSHIRE OFFICER

A woman who twice has been convicted of driving while intoxicated was allegedly driving drunk when she struck a police officer working a traffic detail on Route 28 in Windham. Police said Susan Foss, 43, of 16 Windham Depot Road, Derry, hit officer Robert Moore around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25.

Moore, 34, a Derry police officer, was on the ground and semiconscious when Windham police officers arrived on the scene. He was treated by emergency workers before being transported by helicopter to Boston Medical Center.

According to published reports, he suffered injuries to his hip and to an elbow. Foss was convicted of driving while intoxicated in Nashua District Court in 1998 and convicted of a second offense of driving while intoxicated in Salem District Court in 1999.

She was out on bail after being arrested for driving while intoxicated in Pelham on July 8. She was driving with a temporary license when she allegedly hit Moore. When she refused to take a breathalyzer test in Pelham, she fell under state administrative rules for a license suspension.
