TWO HELD AFTER BRITISH OFFICER IS STRUCK
Two teenagers have been arrested after a van which was being followed by police knocked down an officer. Police in Peterborough were called late on Sunday with reports of a red Astra van driving erratically in the Kirk Meadow area of Bretton.
The van, believed to have been stolen, failed to stop when challenged by a police patrol. Cambridgeshire Police used a device to puncture the van's tyres but it drove at an officer and knocked him down. Two 17-year-old youths from the city were arrested and are being questioned on suspicion of theft of a vehicle. The police officer was treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene.
