MICHIGAN OFFICER STRUCK WHILE DIRECTING TRAFFIC AFTER FIREWORKS
A Charlevoix Police Department officer was injured Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle as he was directing traffic after the Venetian Festival fireworks.
Police officials said deputy chief Scott Hankins, was transported to Charlevoix Area Hospital by Charlevoix Ambulance where he was treated for his injuries and released.
Police said the incident happened at about 11:20 p.m. on Bridge Street near Park Avenue when a vehicle struck Hankins from behind. Police officials described Hankins’ injuries as “minor.” The incident remains under investigation by the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office.
