FATHER OF MAN INVOLVED IN NEW YORK TROOPER'S DEATH LEADS POLICE ON CHASE

The father of a man whose actions led to the death of Trooper David Brinkerhoff last spring is in jail after leading police on a chase in northern New York. Police said Marvin Trim, 45, of North Lawrence, took off when officers tried to arrest him for an incident that occurred Monday.

Police said Trim stopped multiple times and refused to talk to officers while they were chasing him. During one of the stops, police put spike strips behind his tires.

Police said Trim then backed over the strips and tried to hit officers as he was driving away. Another short chase ensued and Trim lost control of his vehicle and drove into a ditch. That’s when officers were able to arrest him.

Trim is being charged attempted assault, felony reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana. He's being held on $10,000 bond. Trim's family said that he's the father of Travis Trim.

Travis Trim was the subject of an April manhunt in Delaware County that led to his death and the death of Brinkerhoff by friendly fire as troopers stormed the house where Trim was hiding.
