MASSACHUSETTS TROOPER NEARLY STRUCK BY DRINK DRIVER
A state trooper scheduled for deployment with the Marines in Iraq next month had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by an SUV driven by a woman who police said was drunk. Trooper Gregory Jasinskas, was in the breakdown lane of Route 3 South at about 2 a.m. dealing with a driver whom he had stopped when the SUV sideswiped his cruiser.
The driver did not stop, but Jasinskas, whose cruiser was operable, was able to catch up with her at the Union Street exit. Elizabeth Lunnin, 38, of Braintree, was arrested on charges of drunken driving, failing to stay in marked lanes, driving negligently and leaving the scene of an accident.
