CAMERA RECORDS MINNESOTA DEPUTY BEING DRAGGED BY FLEEING SUSPECT
Mcleod County sheriff's deputy Jennifer Mueller has never pictured herself as a video star. But the tape shot from her squad car Monday evening is certainly gaining some attention.
That tape shows Mueller stopping the driver of Chevy Suburban suspected of assaulting his girlfriend earlier in the evening in Renville County. Mueller asks him several times to step out of the car. The driver refuses.
When he tries to start the Suburban, Mueller reaches into the vehicle to try and stop the driver from shifting the vehicle into gear. In an instant, he steps on the throttle and drags her several feet before she falls from the vehicle onto the road.
The spill was not without consequences. "I have a slight bruise on my left knee, some scrapes and abrasions on my left arm and a good bump on my head," said Mueller. She laughed, "It's a good thing I have a thick head."
Before driving herself to the hospital in Hutchinson, Mueller joined three other deputies in the pursuit would result in the arrest of 56-year-old Jerry Burt of Olivia.
Burt is now charged with in McLeod County with assault with a dangerous weapon (his car) and fleeing a police officer resulting in injury. He's been charged with domestic assault in Renville County.
