TEXAS MAN ACCUSED OF HITTING OFFICER WITH SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE

Grand Prairie police captured a man driving a stolen vehicle Monday night after he tried to run over an Irving officer and fled through three cities.

David Paul Horne, 28, was being held in the Irving city jail on suspicion of aggravated assault on a peace officer. He will likely face other charges, police said. Irving police responded about 7:45 p.m. Monday to the Shell gas station at Shady Grove Road and Loop 12 after a report of credit card abuse. An Irving officer tried to stop the suspect, but he tried to run down the officer as he attempted to flee in a stolen Lexus SUV. The officer fired a shot at the vehicle, knocking out the SUV’s back window, and the SUV struck the officer's left arm.

Dallas police said their officers spotted the suspect driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Jefferson Boulevard. The man wrecked the SUV in Grand Prairie, and was taken into custody shortly after 8 p.m., authorities said.
