SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON I-295 INJURES 2, INCLUDING NEW JERSEY TROOPER
A New Jersey State Police trooper was injured this morning when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 295, state police said.
The trooper, whose identity has not been released, was performing a traffic stop on the southbound side of the highway between exits 42 and 43 in Mount Laurel when the accident occurred.
The trooper stopped a car on the highway for a moving violation at 8:28 a.m. and was in his patrol car in the right-side shoulder when a southbound Jeep crashed into the patrol car. The trooper was injured and was taken by helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment. His condition was unavailable this morning, but authorities stated that his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
