PHOENIX OFFICER DRAGGED BY STOLEN CAR

Phoenix police used air and K-9 units Sunday night to search for a car thief who hit an officer. Police said the officer pulled over a stolen vehicle near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road around 10:20 p.m.

As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped off, hitting the officer and dragging him a short distance. Police said the officer was not seriously injured. The driver of the stolen car crashed into a wall a few blocks away and escaped on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and began a search but said they were unable to locate the driver.
