MAN ALLEGED TO HAVE HIT OKLAHOMA DEPUTY SHERIFF’S CAR ARRESTED, ARRESTED AGAIN AFTER ESCAPE
A Garfield County man was arrested after smashing into the rear of a Garfield County deputy sheriff’s car, then escaped and was arrested again.
Elmer Richard Jordan reportedly ran into the rear of a car driven by deputy sheriff Drew Odell about 8 p.m. Saturday. Jordan was leaving 114th turning onto U.S. 412 when he struck the county vehicle. Odell was slightly injured, but his canine companion was unhurt.
Jordan complained of neck and back injuries, but was arrested by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol who investigated the accident. He was handcuffed and placed in an ambulance and taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for examination. As the ambulance arrived at the hospital, Jordan reportedly left the ambulance and ran away. County deputies and Enid police set up a perimeter in the 1200 block of East Oklahoma, where Jordan lives. He was arrested about 1:15 a.m. when he came home.
Jordan was placed in the Garfield County Jail and will face charges today.
