HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT POLICE OFFICER STRUCK

A Hartford police officer was struck by a vehicle and hospitalized after attempting to speak to the occupants. Authorities reported that two officers spotted a running car with two men sleeping in it at 79 Otis St., Monday morning. The officer's approached the car and said that the driver, who first refused to show his hands, slammed his foot on the accelerator.

The vehicle jumped the curb and stuck one of the officers before speeding down Franklin Avenue. Police said they have notified Wethersfield and Newington police to be on the lookout for a maroon, two-door Honda with Connecticut license plate 933 UYN. The officier was treated and released from a local hospital.
