WISCONSIN DEPUTY'S CAR STRUCK IN I-94 MEDIAN
A five-year veteran Waukesha County sheriff's deputy was struck by a suspected drunken driver early Wednesday morning April 11. Deputy Bryan Scaar, 31, suffered minor injuries. The other driver, a 38-year-old Waukesha man, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
The crash occurred in the median of I-94 near Springdale Road. The Sheriff's Department gave the following account: The deputy had just pulled onto the median after receiving a report that a suspected drunken driver was in the area. The headlights on the squad car were on when a vehicle came toward it. The deputy realized the car wasn't slowing down, so he tried to make an evasive move with the squad car, but it was struck by the oncoming vehicle. The squad car spun 180 degrees and went over the median wall into the eastbound lanes.
The deputy was able to get out of his vehicle and ask the other driver if he was hurt. He was not injured.Town of Brookfield police arrested the man on suspicion of drunken driving causing injury.
