OFFICER IN FOOT PURSUIT HIT BY POLICE CRUISER

A Montgomery County police officer in a foot pursuit is in grave condition after a police cruiser hit him.said an officer was chasing a car. Authorities said the driver of that car was suspected of driving under the influence. The man bailed out of the car and a foot pursuit began.

It was at that time, another police vehicle responding to help, struck the officer on foot as he was crossing Old Georgia Avenue. The striking police cruiser then went off the road and hit a tree. Both officers were flown to area hospital. The officer on foot is in grave condition and the officer in the cruiser is in serious condition. Authorities describe Old Georgia Avenue as a dark, dimly lit, hilly, curvy road. The man police were chasing fled the scene.
