LOS ANGELES FIRE TRUCK HIT AFTER RESPONDING TO ACCIDENT
A Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department engine responding to a traffic accident on Lapalco Boulevard became a statistic itself Saturday when another car lost control and plowed into the engine.
Firefighters responded to reports of a TP Cruiser that had flipped over in an accident about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, parking their engine behind the Cruiser in a westbound lane of Lapalco, near Timberlane Drive.
A Ford Expedition driven by Nicole Lee, 33, of New Orleans, lost control on Lapalco, hit another car and then struck the side of the fire engine, which had its emergency lights flashing, according to fire department Deputy Chief Robert Masson.
"No one was injured but the engine had to be towed off," a news release said. "Ms. Lee received numerous traffic violation citations as a result of the accident."
