DELAWARE RIVER PORT AUTHORITY OFFICER STRUCK AND INJURED

Police are searching a hit and run driver who struck a Delaware River Port Authority police officer Monday evening April 23. The accident happened at about 8:45 p.m. near the Walt Whitman Bridge toll plaza in South Philadelphia.

The officer was helping a disabled vehicle by the side of the road when the hit and run driver came by. Authorities said the officer was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to be treated for mostly scrapes and bruises. He is expected to fully recover.
