BOSTON DRIVER TRIED TO HIT OFFICER; SUSPECTED DEALER ARRESTED AFTER CHASE
A Boston man was arrested Friday after allegedly attempting to drive into a police car while being chased by police. Emanuel Fernandez, 22, was arrested on several charges, including failure to stop for a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon. Detective Jason Cappello was investigating complaints of suspicious activity occurring daily in the area of Sunny Plain Avenue and Old Colony Avenue. He said he saw Fernandez accept money from a woman in a maroon minivan on Old Colony Avenue before speeding off at around 2:30.
Suspecting a drug deal, he tried to stop Fernandez using his lights and sirens.
Fernandez refused to stop his gray Jeep, police said. He turned a corner to find Officer James Barry in a marked police cruiser.
Fernandez then swerved right at him in an attempt to hit him. After stopping the Jeep, Barry arrested Fernandez.
