MINNESOTA OFFICER INJURED AFTER SUSPECT ATTEMPTS TO FLEE
A police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon March 7 after being hit by another officer's car. The Cottage Grove Police Department recieved a call that a suspect, Mitchell Zarzar, had escaped from the custody of an officer from Red Wing Correctional Facility.
Cottage Grove police started canvassing the area looking for Zarzar, 19, who was fleeing on foot. While looking for the suspect, Sgt. Greg Rinzel was struck by another officer's vehicle and knocked unconscious.
Rinzel was brought to Regions Hospital and is in stable condition. Zarzar was re-apprehended and transported to Washington County Jail awating charges.
