LOUISIANA MAN APOLOGIZES FOR HITTING POLICE OFFICER WITH TRUCK

Shreveport Police say they've found the pickup truck driver that was near the scene of an accident that sent a motorcycle officer to the hospital.

Sixty-two-year-old Darius Crawford of Texarkana called Shreveport Police after he saw the accident on the news, telling them he was the driver of the Chevy pickup truck police had been looking for. Cpl. Duane Farquhar, an 8-year police veteran with the department, and a patrol car were on Bert Kouns escorting an over-sized load. Investigators say the patrol car and Farquhar were blocking off Millicent Way when a white Chevy pickup truck pulled out in front of him. Farquhar lost control and ran into the patrol car. Right now investigators do not know if Farquhar actually hit the truck.

Farquhar was taken to Willis-Knighton Pierremont with broken ribs. He was the only person hurt in the accident. He's expected to stay in the hospital overnight.

According to police, Crawford told them he thought the officer in the patrol car was clearing the intersection because the load being escorted had cleared the intersection.
