COLORADO SHERIFF'S CAR SIDESWIPED ON HIGHWAY 82

A Pitkin County sheriff's patrol vehicle was sideswiped while responding to an accident on Highway 82 on Wednesday night. Deputy Brady Jax, who was in the parked Chevrolet Tahoe SUV when it was hit, was not hurt. The car sustained damage to its left side. Just after 11 p.m. and with snow falling, Jax was assisting Colorado State Patrol troopers who were responding to an accident near mile marker 26, about one mile upvalley from the entrance to Snowmass Canyon.

Jax was parked on the side of the road with his flashers on, alerting motorists to the upcoming accident. Flares were also deployed on the road. A woman passing by lost control and sideswiped the driver's side of the patrol vehicle. The woman was issued a reckless driving ticket.
