OREGON SHERIFF DEPUTY'S PATROL CAR HIT BY MOTOR HOME
A Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries when a motor home struck his patrol car. It happened just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday night along the westbound lanes of I-84 near Multnomah Falls. According to the sheriff’s department, the deputy had finished up a call helping a stranded driver. He was sitting in the car with its lights flashing when it was hit by behind by the motor home. A preliminary investigation shows the motor home driver did not maintain a safe distance from the patrol car. Oregon law requires drivers to get in another lane, or slow down if they're close to police vehicle on the side of the road. The motor home driver could face a $278.00 fine if cited, police said. The patrol car was totaled, the crash even knocked a wheel off of the car. The deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to the hospital to be checked out, the sheriff’s department said. He was the only person injured in the crash.
