NEW YORK STATE TROOPER’S CAR STRUCK ON BAY BRIDGE
The westbound lanes on the Bay Bridge between Webster and Irondequoit have reopened after an earlier closing due to an accident involving a state trooper.
According to the New York State Police, Trooper Bob Kotin was investigating an accident on the west side of the bridge when his cruiser was rear-ended by a passing car around 9:15 a.m. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Kotin was taken to Highland Hospital; the other driver was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Weather is being cited as a factor in the accident. The eastbound lanes are open, but the westbound lanes remain closed. Once again, State Police are urging people to slow down because of the weather conditions. There were nine cars stranded on the bridge because of separate accidents earlier today.
