AUSTRALIAN POLICE OFFICER 'HIT BY CAR'

Police are appealing for information after a vehicle allegedly drove at and hit a police officer earlier this week. About 5pm on Monday February 5 an off-duty senior constable was walking along the footpath on Victoria St at Penshurst when a blue Ford Falcon sedan drove past and pulled into a driveway in front of the officer and blocked his path. An argument ensued before the officer produced his official police identification. At this time it is alleged the driver reversed the vehicle and accelerated towards the officer who was struck in the knees and landed on the bonnet. The officer was shaken by the incident but otherwise uninjured.
