FUND SET UP FOR FAMILY OF DEPUTY STRUCK BY CAR

A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy remained in critical condition Saturday, a day after a driver spun out of control and struck him while he was clearing an accident scene on I-94. The Milwaukee County district attorney's office is expected to review the case to determine whether the 25-year-old woman who struck him will be charged with a crime. Deputy Tim Johnson, 29, suffered critical head injuries early Friday while clearing the scene near the on-ramp to northbound Highway 41. According to authorities, the woman lost control of her car, striking Johnson, after she tried to stop suddenly to avoid a rear-end collision as traffic slowed. Johnson's condition had not changed but authorities have declined to provide any details, citing medical privacy laws.

An account has been established at M&I Bank for donations in care of the Deputy Tim Johnson Family Fund.
