VIRGINIA OFFICER IN SERIOUS CONDITION AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR
An officer is in serious condition after being struck by a car Thursday morning along southbound Route 110 near the Pentagon access road. The Arlington County officer was doing stationary radar traffic enforcement when she apparently stepped into a lane and was hit at about 9:20 a.m. by a car she was trying to pull over. The 36-year-old officer was transported to George Washington University Hospital. She underwent surgery Thursday afternoon and was listed in serious condition. She suffered facial trauma and multiple fractures to her hand and right leg. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Police said the driver and passenger of the Nissan Maxima that hit the officer stayed at the scene.
