TWO COLORADO DEPUTIES INJURED AS CAR CRASHES INTO THEIR CRUISERS
Two people were killed in a weekend crash that injured seven people, including two Douglas County sheriff's deputies. Passengers Ryan Lohrenz, 28, of Denver, and Kara Campbell, 23, of Littleton, were killed in the accident on C-470 and Broadway that happened at 2 a.m. Saturday. The deputies were injured when a Honda Passport crashed into the sheriff's deputies, who were sitting in their patrol cars while conducting a traffic stop. The deputies were stopped on the shoulder in two cars. The rear of one patrol car was sticking out about a foot into the right traffic lane with its emergency lights on when the Honda struck it. The patrol car then was pushed into the patrol car in front of it, and the two cars spun and collided into each other. The officers suffered minor injuries and were released from Littleton Hospital on Saturday. Authorities reported that the driver was required to abide by Colorado's "Move Over" law, which requires vehicles to move to the opposite lane of where an emergency vehicle is parked.
