PHILADELPHIA HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER INJURED IN CRASH
A Philadelphia Police Department highway patrol officer parked along a city highway was struck by a passing vehicle and injured Friday morning October 20.
Police said the officer was sitting with an unoccupied stolen car in the eastbound lanes of I-76 near Girard Avenue when a driver of an approaching vehicle lost control and struck the parked cruiser.The officer and the other driver were both taken to Hahnemann Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Police said although the cause of the crash is under investigation, the wet roads and weather conditions may have played a part.
