NORFOLK POLICE OFFICER IN STABLE CONDITION AFTER BEING RUN OVER BY DUMP TRUCK

A Norfolk Police Officer is in stable condition in a local hospital after being backed over by a dump truck. The officer was working on a traffic control detail in the area because of an extensive repaving project on St. Pauls Blvd. He was reportedly crossing St. Pauls Blvd. in the area in front of Scope, when the dump truck, with was backing up southbound, struck the officer and pinned him underneath. A crane was brought in from local rigging company to lift the dump truck off of the injured officer.A police spokesman said that the injured officer was talking throughout the rescue operation.

It was not known yet if the reverse alarm, which is required on commercial vehicles by law, was functioning correctly.
