MUNSTER INDIANA OFFICER HURT TRYING TO ARREST MAN
A Munster police officer was dragged several feet by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon when he attempted to stop a person suspected of using a stolen credit card. About 12:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Speedway gas station at 444 Ridge Road to investigate a person attempting to use a stolen credit card. When officers arrived at the gas station, they observed a man matching the description of the person suspected of using the stolen card. As officers approached, the man fled on foot and was chased by officers. The man entered a vehicle, and an officer tried to remove him from the vehicle.
The officer, whose name police did not release, was dragged several feet as the man drove away.The man struck at least one other vehicle as he fled. He was last seen traveling west on Ridge Road into Lansing.The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
