FLORIDA DEPUTY HONORED FOR SAVING COLLEAGUE'S LIFE
A Broward County Floriad sheriff's deputy and a Road Ranger were honored Monday for saving the life of another deputy. On July 1, 2006, Deputy Michael Rosenbluth was hit by a car on Interstate 595 in Dania Beach and was thrown over the edge of an overpass during a traffic stop. As he was dangling 100 feet from the ground, Deputy Shannon Belanger heard his screams for help and, along with Road Ranger Cesar Cintron, pulled him to safety. At a ceremony Monday at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Belanger received the Medal of Honor Award, BSO's highest recognition, for saving the life of one of its own. Belanger was met with a standing ovation as he took the stage Monday.
Rosenbluth faces a long road to recovery. After two and a half months in a hospital and several surgeries, it could be a year before he can walk without a walker, NBC 6's Sharon Lawson reported. There is no word on whether Rosenbluth will return to work.
