CRASH DELAYS PACKAGES, INJURES OHIO OFFICER

A police officer suffered a broken leg, a truck driver was treated and released and his FedEx Freight truck suffered a nasty gash Thursday in two separate accidents on Interstate 75 south. Jason Stafford, 33, of Miamisburg lost control of his tractor-trailer about 6:25 a.m. as he tried to pull off the road after experiencing severe stomach pains, Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Paul Weber said. About a mile south of Ohio 571, the tractor-trailer struck a guardrail and sign post before heading down an embankment and hitting several small trees. Minutes later, Tipp City, Ohio police Officer Corey Rismiller, 35, one of two officers who had begun setting out road flares for traffic control, was struck by a car.Rismiller suffered a broken leg and underwent surgery at Miami Valley Hospital. Stafford was treated and released from Upper Valley Medical Center.
