INDIANA TROOPER CRITICALLY INJURED IN CRASH THAT DESTROYS PATROL CAR

An Indiana State Trooper was critically injured Tuesday September 5 when his patrol car was crushed between two tractor-trailers along Interstate 65. Sgt. Rich Kelly had pulled over a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of northbound I-65 about a mile north of Indiana 28 and was inspecting it from his patrol car when a second truck plowed into the rear of his car about 12:40 p.m., shoving it into the first truck. State police described it as a violent crash. Kelly was able to exit his vehicle after the crash and call for assistance on his cell phone.

He was taken by ambulance to Home Hospital in Lafayette, where he was in critical condition with internal injuries.
