CONNECTICUT OFFICER STRUCK BY CAR; POLICE SEARCH FOR DRIVER

Police are searching for a suspect who left a Waterbury police officer seriously injured after dragging him with a car. The officer pulled the suspect over on South Main and Eagle streets in Waterbury Tuesday afternoon, according to police. A struggle took place between the driver and officer. The driver then pulled away, dragging the officer for several yards. The suspect then fled the scene. Police pursued the suspect south on Route 8 to exit 24 in Beacon Falls. The driver then abandoned the car and fled on foot.
