OHIO DEPUTY STRUCK BY VEHICLE AFTER INTERSTATE ALTERCATION
A sheriff's deputy is recovering after what could have been an intentional hit and run. The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday while police were controlling a construction zone on Interstate 70. The deputy requested traffic to stop briefly while crews finished a project. At that time, 91-year-old Armond Singer became argumentative with the officer about the traffic stop. Police said Singer continued driving, struck the deputy with his vehicle, then drove away. Even after the deputy was thrown to the side of the road, police said Singer continued driving for about two miles until highway patrol apprehended and arrested him. Singer is charged with failure to comply and fleeing the scene of an accident. The deputy sustained bumps and bruises, but no serious injuries.
